The Power of Sin

If you will have death unto sin, you shall have sin unto death.
There is no alternative. If you do not die to sin, you shall die
for sin. If you do not slay sin, sin shall slay you.

C.H. Spurgeon

The word "sin" should never be separate from the word
"death." Sin has its pleasures for a season but its way is
the way to Death. We are told in Rom 6:16 Know ye not, that to whom ye yield yourselves servants to obey, his servants ye are to whom ye obey; whether of sin unto death, or of obedience unto righteousness?
We see that we have a choice to obey God or follow our natural man. Who do you want to
follow? I know I can say with Paul that I war within myself my "old man" fighting an insurgent
war with the spiritual man, the new creature I am in Christ (2 Cor 5:17).
So how do we win that war?????

We must daily die to self
Gal 2:20 I am crucified with Christ: nevertheless I live; yet not I, but Christ liveth in me: and the life which I now live in the flesh I live by the faith of the Son of God, who loved me, and gave himself for me.

We can not be a flash in the pan Christian, you know the type..
"It is too hard to live this"
" The world is a different place now"
" I do not feel like doing it" my favorite is
"But this is what feel like doing!!"

Our Lord has given us the way of escape from our trails and temptations.
1Co 10:13 There hath no temptation taken you but such as is common to man: but God is faithful, who will not suffer you to be tempted above that ye are able; but will with the temptation also make a way to escape, that ye may be able to bear it.

We do not avail ourselves to this "way of escape" like we should.
There is a story told of a man whose house is hit by a flood.
As he is sitting on the roof to escape the water a neighbor rows up in a boat to help
him. The mans says "No thank you God will save me". Next a rescue helicopter lowers
a rope to lift him off. Again the man says " No thank you God will save me".
When the man drowns from the water he asks God "Lord why did you let me drown?"
God tells the man I sent you help thru a man with a boat, and an helicopter, but you
refused my help.

How often do you refuse God's help thru the people around you????

Gal 6:1-2 Brethren, if a man be overtaken in a fault, ye which are spiritual, restore such a one in the spirit of meekness; considering thyself, lest thou also be tempted.
Bear ye one another's burdens, and so fulfill the law of Christ.

Those times that we have others come along side do we listen? Are we coming along side those
who are hurting?
Are looking unto Jesus the author and finisher of our faith???

If you are reading this and you are not born again or if your do not even know what that means.
Please contact me!! I would be glad to show you from the Scriptures what it means to be
born again. Because this will make NO sense to you. But if you are born again what are you doing with your life???? Living for yourself? Or are you living your life for Jesus??

That the Lamb might have the Full reward for His suffering

Amen. Thank you for sharing those thoughts. I needed the reminder about the way of escape. It is our choice to take it or not. I pray that I will be open minded enough to do so every time it is needed, since it is inevitable because I'm not perfect.
